Meetings and Events are, and always have been an important part of our business. We have been engaged by most of our meeting clients for a significant time, some dating back to the start of our company. Over the years we have had the opportunity to work with a number of excellent companies and have expanded our services to embrace their needs. We provide a full range of event services, both in developing creative and in managing projects. The scope of what we do has grown to include conference planning, site coordination, content development and production, product introduction planning, scenic, lighting and AV design and all phases of the actual execution of the event. In recent years we have increasingly engaged Social Media in promoting events, creating interest in them in in starting conversations about what the attendees would like to get out of them. While much of the content we develop for our clients is for internal use, and is subject to strict confidentiality requirements, case studies of some of the events we have undertaken for our clients can be viewed by clicking the links below, or by using the navigation tool at left.
We have participated, and in many cases produced some of the biggest corporate events that have occurred in the past thirty years, and we have cultivated a reputation for providing innovative solutions to meet our clients' objectives. From training events for thousands of ACN affiliates to sales conferences for Apple, recognition events for IBM, the European launch of Oracle 7, to the first Milken Institute Economic Summit in Washington DC, we have engaged with audiences, presenters, motivational speakers, entertainers, politicians and even the Pope (the last one... Sept 15, 1988 - I ran slides for him at the Universal Amphitheater... oddly disconcerting for him to give us a "thumbs-up" as he walked on stage). We bring our expertise and our team to bear on every project we work on and the result has been a long stream of successes always meeting our clients' objectives and within their budgets. What follows is an example of an example of the successful relationship we have had with Taco Bell in meeting their event needs.
It's not all about size in Product Introductions... but about how well they are done. The largest thing we ever introduced in terms of sheer physical size was the B2 Spirit Bomber for Northrop. The smallest was the "Ray Fusion Cage" a tiny little titanium & composite wonder that is used to repair degenerative spinal column conditions. The scope and scale of the introductions themselves has varied, from driving motorcycles through laser tunnels, lowering the original Macintosh onto stage with a fiber-optic cable to showing off new clothing lines adorned on supermodels. The point is always to showcase the product, and the message. One of the most intriguing challenges we were ever given came a from Wyse Technology which was introducing a new product line, and re-launching their entire company... but they wanted to do it in a very low pressure sort of way with no splash whatsoever... just the message.
Before Skechers, the shoe business was pretty boring... at lest the conventions were. The two main industry events are the WSA meeting (Western Shoe Association) and the Supershow in Atlanta. The norm was for the manufacturers to set up booths showing off racks and racks of their products, and for the buyers from the major chains and the smaller stores to look around for something that might get some attention, and increase sales. Even vendors like Nike and Adidas had mostly staid booths. Then came Skechers. While the other manufacturers were talking about "Lasts", "Counters" and the unique waffle pattern on their shoes, Skechers had shoes that were actually stylish, and had drawn some attention from the younger buyers, the buyers began to notice, and for their first two years exhibiting, they did very well. But Robert and Michael Greenberg who run the company wanted a lot more. What we did for them is legend in the industry...
Most corporate events include some form of recognition, whether it be an awards banquet, special recognition by each presenter who hands out their own specialized award for remarkable contributions in their area of responsibility, or in it;s ultimate form, an entire event may be about recognition. In the 1970's and 80's an entire industry grew up around supporting IBM recognition events which would last for 6 weeks, rotating a new group of honorees in every 4 days. I had the great pleasure of working on several of those and I think those of us who worked on them likely have even fonder memories of the events than do the participants. A more recent, and still ongoing event with which we have been involved over the years is the Milken Family Foundation's National Educator Awards event. This is a really remarkable event which honors a group which certainly does not get enough recognition, America's teachers. Click below to find out more about these events.
